If Harley-Davidson needs any more guidance on how to create Sportster range
extensions for the future, this beautifully detailed XL 1200 custom from Nice! Motorcycles should help. Nice!
MC (their exclamation mark, not mine) is headquartered 500km west of Tokyo, and
a well-known name on the Japanese custom scene. For this new bike—revealed in
latest issue of Hotbike magazine—they’ve taken a 2002 Sportster and
revolutionized its looks with several well thought out changes. The tank and
seat unit are new, along with the wheels, brakes and Gold Wing-spec Dunlop Elite
II tires. The side covers are gone and the bike has been lowered, with new
shocks at the back; there’s what appears to be a new triple clamp at the front,
along with clip-on bars, a bobbed fender and a smaller headlight. The result
completely transforms the look of the XL1200, giving it a racier stance and a
classic 70s vibe. There’s no word on engine upgrades, other than an air filter
One of the most underrated custom platforms has got to be Yamaha’s
Virago. It first appeared as the XV750 in 1981, and made an immediate
impact—to the point where it was one of the bikes that prompted a US tariff on
imported motorcycles over 700 cc, arguably to protect Milwaukee. The Virago
sub-brand was soon spread thin with subsequent models going down to 250 cc, but
the 80s big-bangers are still held in high regard
Mike began the year pulling out all the stops with his
creation of The Hubless Monster Motorcycle. Many Secret conversations
resulted in the creation of the largest Motorcycle Tire in the World,
The 360x18 by Vee Rubber. Not stopping there, a 23” Diameter Tire was
also developed. The mold production began and Mike started with the
construction using plywood and steel “Models” of what the tire would
look like. This new 360 Tire was so wide and with limited time for
production (2 Months) that he decided on using friction drive
technology from the Carnival Ferris Wheel, plus the drive system would
have to be hidden. The bike would incorporate the most amount of sheet
metal ever used on an Amen Bike. Mike decided to pull out the drawings
for The Hubless Wheels that were 8 years old, and build A REAL
Hubless Bike. The “Sheet Metal” resulted in being fabricated as boxed
structural steel panels used to mount the wheels and drive system. This
Bike is so Revolutionary and Historic that the following list is a
breakdown of its accomplishments.
They are as follows:
1.) The First Fully Functional Double Hubless Bike in the World.
2.) The First Bike Fully Engineered and built without the Tires being in Existence
3.) The First Custom Bike in the world to unveil a new tire on a completed Bike
4.) The First Custom Bike in the world to have the Largest Motorcycle Tire in the world, 360mm.
5.) The First Custom Bike in the world to have the new Industry Breaking 23” tire size.
6.) The First Custom Bike to incorporate Friction Drive Technology with Hubless Wheel Design for a Total Clean Look.

For this "special" I started with a super clean 2003 ZRX1200R with only 4,300
miles on it, and fitted the complete engine, wheels, brakes, inverted forks, mono
shock and swingarm, wiring harness, and ECU off a 2005 Hayabusa GSX1300R with
only 2,500 miles.
On the original Kawabusa, the injectors came very close to the underside of the
tank, so I had to cut a section out for an airbox, which lost tank volume. So
on this one I built a set of intake manifolds, and turned the injectors down into
a more conventional carb position, which also enabled the fitting of a set of
bell mouths ( velocity stacks ).
Carbon front fender is Coerse ( only available in Japan ), and rear carbon hugger
is from Pyramid ( England ) . The gauges/instruments were from an 02 European
GSX1400 ( similar to Bandit, but with the addition of a fuel injection light ),
and the headlight unit is from an 04 Suzuki Bandit. Handlebars are Renthal "low
bars", and all brake lines are BF Goodrich braided stainless. Oil cooler is from
an 05 GSXR1000, as is the complete tail section ( removed from a brand new bike
to replace with a racing unit ). Tires are Dunlop Qualifiers ( 200 on the rear
). The header is hand fabricated polished stainless, and the cans are Yoshimura
carbon, originally designed for a ZX14 ( ZZR1400 ). Bike is fitted a Power Commander
USB.
I built this bike because I love the power of the Hayabusa, and the upright riding
position of the ZRX, and it sure is a blast to ride !!!!!!!

The Electric GPR-S comes stock with a heavy duty PM motor called the
Etek-RT. The Electric GPR-S uses an industry standard Nema C-face motor
mounting system that is compatible with not only the Etek type motors
but almost every 6.7 or 8" motor on the market today. This means
upgrading to an AC Induction system, or a sepex regen system is as easy
as bolting in a after-market motor and controller kit.

Here in south africa i see those telephones in suitcases at the side of the road and now i see portable battery chargers in containers at robots, connect to the robot with a strand or two of wire
Built by the Finland-based Lantto Racing, the supercharged RC8 drag-racer has been prepared in accordance with the FHRA’s
Pro Street Bike class rules. The swingarm has been lengthened, the
suspension has been lowered and a Rotrex C30-94 supercharger has been
bolted on.
The engine’s compression ratio has been lowered to
allow running more boost, and the engine management system has been
custom-built by TaTech. Fully loaded, the bike weighs 188 kilos.
According to Aku Lantto, of Lantto Racing, the stock RC8
made 141.5bhp and 121Nm of torque, and did the quarter-mile (400m) in
10.17 seconds, hitting 219km/h. With the mods, the supercharged RC8
makes about 250 horsepower and 220Nm of torque, (running only 0.5 bar
boost), and does the quarter-mile in 9.815 seconds, at 230km/h.
Aku
says that with so much power, setting up the suspension is getting
tougher and the clutch also takes a beating every time the bike is
launched. Still, Lantto Racing plan to increase the boost to 1.5-2 bar,
at which point the RC8’s engine should be pumping out more than 300bhp…
A Wisconsin man has proven that bigger sometimes is badder, at least where Harleys are concerned.
Steve
"Doc" Hopkins of Shawano, Wis., has created a five-seat, four-engine
Harley-Davidson motorcycle for the company's 105th anniversary parade
this weekend in Milwaukee, MyFOXNEWisconsin.com reports.
"I think it’s probably more
the novelty than anything — just getting four engines all to run in
unison and together with the belts and the sound," Hopkins told
MyFOXNEWisconsin.com.
It took Hopkins, the
owner of a Harley dealership in Bonduel, only 17 days to construct the
hog using four 1950s flathead engines, spare Harley parts, metal tubing
and a beer keg.
"Just a Hamm's tapper," Hopkins told the station. "I got that at the Shawano flea market."
The project came as no surprise to his wife, Rhonda. After all, Hopkins spent five months last year building a pirate ship.
Big Bear in the good ol USA has now used 2 of thier models for a 2 up configaration

While
most of our fleet was designed with a single rider in mind, our Devil's
Advocate Two-Up ProStreet is designed for 2 people to enjoy the ride.
New for 2009, we have taken our popular single rider DA ProStreet,
engineered a strutted type rear fender with a seat and a cool little
back rest to comfortably host a passenger. Another great new feature
for this model is a wider front wheel with the fender to fit. This
wider front tire not only looks great, but also helps the handing from
increased surface contact. More design changes include a revised fuel
tank, chrome rear belt guard, chrome front fender struts and standard
chrome passenger pegs. It's time she goes along with you for the ride. Forget about meeting your needs, we may have just exceeded them.
The new accessory combined with the 1340cc from Suzuki finished up with an output of 450 hp. At 235kg that’s about 2hp for every kilo: the stuff of dragsters.
