AHMEDABAD: A 52-year-old
head
constable with city traffic branch was beaten up by a biker on Friday
morning.
The incident took place when the traffic cop tried to stop the biker
from
talking on phone while driving a bike without number plate.
Punched
in the face by the biker, he collapsed on the road. Later, public got
hold of
the youth and beat him up while the constable was sent to a nearby
hospital.
Officials arrested the youth for assault on government employee on
duty.
According to Maninagar police station officials, Bhanuprasad
Parmar, a head constable with city traffic branch, was deployed at
Maninagar
crossroads for last fortnight. At 10.45 am on Friday, he was manning the
road
when he spotted a youth on a bike talking on mobile phone.
"Parmar
has mentioned in his complaint that he tried to stop the youth, later
identified
as Mayur Mistry, a resident of Maninagar and working as an executive
with a
mobile service provider. Mistry first slowed down a bit and when Parmar
tried to
get his key, Mistry again kept his hands on accelerator," said a
Maninagar
police station official.
At that juncture, Mistry took up a fight
with Parmar over his action and said that he would not pay up as
everybody talks
on phone. When Parmar insisted on taking fine, he punched him on face
four
times, hitting him so badly that he collapsed on ground with blood
running from
his nose.
