Request for Assistance: Biker Lifestyle Magazine

#610 - 25--Chill--Request for Assistance: Biker Lifestyle Magazine--2008-05-29 00:37:24

This
is something that we don’t do often. We did it a couple of years ago
for the Cerebral Palsy Association and we helped raise funds for
Adriana for her bone marrow cancer but unfortunately we lost her. For
us this one is a little bit closer to home, Glenice Bridges has been
with Biker Lifestyle Magazine for 6 years and her hubby Guy who helps
us out with road tests, photographs and anything else we ask him to do
have a young son called Grant who is 11 years old.

The
young guy fell off his bicycle, breaking his right arm, after the
doctors had put pins in his shoulder, they discovered a tumour in his
arm and unfortunately he was diagnosed with cancer. After 3 sessions of
chemo, specialist recommended amputation of his right arm but with the
help from Charl Beukes from the Amputee club who managed to arrange an
urgent appointment with a specialist in
Cape Town
, young Grant has got another CHANCE of keeping his arm. A decision was made in
Cape Town
by the specialist to do a bone replacement instead of amputation.

I
know there have been a lot of well wishes, prayers and thoughts from a
lot of people out there, we really do appreciate it all, but the people
on this page made it possible for us to get that important second
opinion.  So to you I say thank you very much.

The Bridges family will be flying down to
Cape Townon Thursday
8th May and hopefully the operation will take place on Friday 9th May.
We trust and pray that the operation will be a success.

The starting price for this procedure is anything from R150 000.00 to R350 000.00.

We
are hoping that the medical aid will carry some of these costs but
right now we don’t know.  You will notice that there are banking
details and I’ve taken it upon myself to try and raise anything so this
young chap could benefit.  I don’t know what to ask, but if you find it
in your hearts, it would be greatly appreciated and it would definitely
go to a very good cause.  If you’d like to discuss anything with me, or
